Central Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department is going to use smart phone to monitor malfunctioned street lights. Later, each lamp will be installed with control system. By using an application named Smart System, malfunctioned street lights in the capital can be known quickly.

With this application, the officers can monitor malfunctioned street lights through their smart phones

“We have tested out the system to street lights on Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim. With this application, the officers can monitor malfunctioned street lights through their smart phones,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Iswandi, Saturday (10/18).

Through Smart System, Iswandi continued, the officers can also set the lighting quality of the street lights. This program would eventually be applied to all street lights in all over Jakarta.

7,479 New Street Lights will Be Installed in E. Jakarta

“Usually, we optimize the lighting at 6-10 PM and after that we’ll reduce it up to 50 percent until dawn. There will be also system in which each light lit at 6 PM and turned itself off at 6 AM. If there were malfunctioned lights found, the signal will turn on the program on our smart phones, thus we can check it quickly,” he explained.

According to Iswandi, in 2015 all street lights will be installed with the Smart System. In Central Jakarta alone, thus far there are about 35,000 street lights spread in eight sub-districts.
